Keyline Design

Implementation of water-harvesting infrastructure

Silvopasture and the Keyline Design, with channels on contour, trees in the pastures, rotational grazing of diverse groups of animals, and organic farming activities, are practices that aim to regenerate exhausted agricultural lands. Humidity is maintained in the soil and the earth captures the necessary nutrients, since the design prevents erosion. The animals provide high-value manure; in this way they add biomass to the spaces and elevate biodiversity levels.

This is why the Keyline Design plays an important role in the Lum Ha’ demonstrative farm. It is brings together all kinds of soil work throughout the property: canals, dams, lakes, paths and plantations.

With your help, in 2022 we can finalize the implementation of the general Keyline design on the farm, which includes building a lake that measures 1,200 square meters, several ponds, canals, and leveled pathways.

This soil work is the foundation of the Silvopastoril design, as trees are planted on the banks of the canals, which harvest water during the rainy season and serve as irrigation channels during the dry season.

Once the design at the Lum Ha’ farm is finished, we will focus on supporting the development of the same design in the region.
